Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and responsible teen worker to assist our camp facilitators during a Summer Tech Camp. The teen worker will work closely with the camp facilitators to provide a fun and educational experience for campers, aged 7-16 years old. The ideal candidate will have a passion for STEM education, be enthusiastic about working with kids, and have excellent communication skills.
During summer 2024, Black Boys in Tech will host a series of Tech Camps at different locations throughout greater Cincinnati. Our Ziegler Park location will serve students in the 1st -6th grade, many who live in the downtown, OTR, and Pendleton neighborhoods, while our Mt. Healthy HS location will serve middle and high school students who attend Aiken, Hughes, Mt. Healthy, Withrow University, Woodward, and Taft High Schools. Our Cincinnati state location will serve middle school students throughout Greater Cincinnati. The STEM Summer Camps will begin June 3rd and conclude August 2nd.
Key Responsibilities
Assist camp facilitators in setting up and running STEM activities, experiments, and projects
Help campers with instructions, supervision, and guidance during STEM activities
Encourage campers to participate in activities and foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere
Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of campers
Participate in team-building activities and games with campers
Clean up and organize activity areas at the end of each day
Perform other duties as assigned by the camp director or facilitators
Requirements
Must be between 14-17 years old
Passionate about STEM education and working with kids
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Professional, punctual, respectful, and responsible
Able to work well in a team and follow instructions
Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies (up to 25 pounds)
Availability to work full-time (Monday-Friday) during the camp period
Able to catch the bus or be dropped off at camp location daily. Teens are responsible for their own transportation
All youth applicants ages 14-15 must provide a work permit at application.
Must complete and pass a background check
