Brief History

The Black Boys in Tech (BBIT) program began in April of 2022 under A.M. Lewis Enterprises LLC and in collaboration with Asad Brand Literature. BBIT was born out of the ask of mothers in Cincinnati to provide interactive STEM experiences and mentorship for their Black sons, in addition to the desire of Black boys who participated in one BBIT’s pilot programs to continue with out-of-school STEM programming during the school year.

In September of 2022, BBIT launched a 12-week Drones Course focused on providing STEM enrichment and career development for Black boys in grades 6-9. On December 3rd, 2022, BBIT celebrated the graduation of the first Drones Course cohort.
