Job Summary
Black Boys in Tech is seeking enthusiastic and experienced Facilitators to join our team for our Summer Tech Camp series. In this position, you will work with children of various ages to implement fun and engaging STEM activities, mostly of the Engineering and Technology variety. You will be responsible for supervising and guiding campers through a variety of STEM-related activities, including experiments, coding projects, and robotics.
During summer 2023, Black Boys in Tech will host a series of Tech Camps at different locations throughout greater Cincinnati. Our Ziegler Park location will serve students in the 1st -6th grade, many who live in the downtown, OTR, and Pendleton neighborhoods, while our Walnut Hills location will serve middle school students who attend Walnut Hills HS and Withrow University HS. Our Cincinnati state location will serve middle school students throughout Greater Cincinnati. The Summer Tech Camps will begin June 5th and conclude July 28th.
Qualifications
Reside in Cincinnati or Northern Kentucky
Available to work at least 20 hours per week during the camp season
Have reliable transportation to travel around the city
Undergraduate and graduate students in Engineering, IT, STEM Education, or other STEM and Education fields are preferred
Passion for STEM and working with children
Experience working with children in a camp or similar setting
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to lead group activities and manage groups of children
Knowledge of basic STEM concepts and principles
Responsibilities
Plan and lead STEM-related activities for campers of various ages and skill levels
Create a safe, inclusive, and positive camp environment for all campers
Encourage campers to develop problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
Actively engage and supervise campers during all activities and free time
Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and camper progress
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about their camper's progress and any concerns
Provide supervision and delagate tasks to youth worker (Teen Project Leads)
Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required
